I’ve had the same Iphone for years and same phone number for maybe ten years. When I called police on 131 444 I kept getting put through to NSW. I’m in WA so had to use my home phone. They told me I need to change this or if I call 000 I’ll have same issues. I can’t see anything or anywhere to change on my phone. If I choose to factory reset my location, what will that do? Maybe there is some location in my settings on my phone I’m missing? Or is it picking up my location through my SIM card or phone number?
How do ‘13’ numbers pick up your location? Thanks!

Who is providing your mobile service?

You can do a test call to 000 - when they answer just say it is a test call and could they verify what state the call was put through to.

It should be the carrier that directs the call. Only thing I can think of is maybe if your phone is using wifi (ie are you connected to your home router) and your internet provider goes back to NSW to hand off the call... Is this only happening when you are on wifi? Can you test with wifi turned off and on?

Thanks, I’ll do some tests when I’m back at home. Wifi is Telstra. IPhone is Optus and phone purchased from them also two suburbs away.

Obviously a bug in the virus app. It was meant to divert you to Nigeria where they ask for your details, not NSW.

Last time I contacted my insurance company they had to redirect me to a different company also as they are different names/companies in different states.

Remember you are living in the Independent Nation State of Westralia, so it is a completely different jurisdiction :D

True! I’m just at the doctors and the door is patrolled. Need to answer if you have a cold, been to any exposure sites, travelled, temp check and scan in before they will let you in.

    That could be the issue.

In Settings, scroll down to Phone, turn off Wi-Fi Calling. See what happens then.

My son has borrowed my car for the past 2.5 weeks so I’ve almost been in lockdown trapped at home most of the time! Yes it’s changed!

Thanks! I just tried calling and it’s going to WA now!

Thanks I just tried just before you replied. Calls are going to WA now. I checked and it was set to Wifi calling off. - I remember changing that setting previously for some reason.

    Awesome!

But I reckon that still shouldn't happen, and you should be able to get the benefits of wifi calling without compromising safety! There is some more info here on "Advanced Mobile Location" that might be of interest:
    Advanced Mobile Location

Could be something to do with it going on different carriers between wifi and mobile, but I really think that should not be an issue when calling 000.

    Cheers,
    Inertia.

Fantastic, thanks, that’s great information to know and I feel heaps more comfortable that it may work if ever needed in an emergency and I know now what to check if I have issues. It was months ago I called police so it’s great to know the system has been upgraded also.
