Can anyone point me in the direction of a diet I can easily use ? I'm still carrying Granny's Christmas cooking results! I'm 59. Don't really eat red meat, I try and eat quite healthily.
No fast food or grease, no processed foods, no sugars or sweet stuff but I just can't seem to lose this gut! I weigh 75.5 kilos and am 198 cms. I know I have to give up my morning ritual huge bowl of corn flakes and muslie. Also most days I make up a fruit drink using fresh fruit in the Magic Bullet thingy. Would the fructose be contributing? I eat a lot of chicken and some fish.
    Any pointers / comments?

I would find a practicing dietitian. I've fiddled with different diets for years. I'm not huge by any stretch but I'm heavier than I'm comfortable at.

Go to someone who knows what they are doing.

Before going to a dietitian, and having tried many different things, none of which worked long term, I found this diet tool, which I think is the best one of all that I'd tried, because it has no gimmicks, is free and you eat real food, but my advice would still be to see a dietitian. I was cutting out whole food groups, which was unnecessary and starving my body of things it needed.

Exercise is the next step. Nothing dramatic - just more than what you're doing eg walking, cycle to shops, swim before or after work. Find a park with outdoor gym stations.

Nothing too drastic - see your doctor first

    No mention of exercise.

Overall, you are in reasonably good shape, but looking to target a specific problem...ie belly fat. Is the belly fat a result of prolonged beer drinking perhaps in the past or present? Edit: Or other underlying issue in the past?

I'd recommend a dietitian and a PT, both experienced in what you are looking to specifically achieve.

    +1

No carbs after 6 pm and cardio for 30 min in early am - may help reducing belly fat - and overall fa in general.

    Cut out simple carbs

    Eat more healthy fats

Stop drinking the juices - don't overdo it on the fruit

    Cheers

Look up intermittent fasting. Pretty much just skip breakfast and have your first meal of the day around 2pm. Much easier way to control calorie intake once youve mastered the mindset of skipping "the most important meal of the day" (a saying invented by General Foods to sell more cereal).

Couple that with any sort of exercise (even long walks while fasted) and you'll slay those pounds. As with anything, dedication, persistency and consistency will yield the best and fastest results :)

Cut out the fruit juices too, fairly 'empty' calories in those.

Keep us updated over the weeks and months so you can be held accountable!

Eat less. Try cutting your portions by a quarter, then a third. Limit or abolish snacking. Limit potatoes, pasta and rice.

Exercise more. Whatever you are doing now, aim to double it. Then keep increasing.

If not doing any exercise, start. Try walking briskly for half an hour 4-5 times a week. Walk for 20 minutes, turn around and walk back. For some reason walking back is always quicker!!!

He's underweight. I am not sure eat less is good advice for an underweight person.

What the O.P. is looking for is body re-composition. I have seen guys shorter than that at 90kg with low body fat. @Dylan33 could be a healthy 80kg with more muscle and less fat, but that takes calories and a lot of work.

Your weight is low for your height. What is your waist?

At that weight with a gut, it seems like you are carrying abdominal fat but not a lot of muscle?

You don't mention exercise. Are you doing any? To increase your muscle and reduce your fat you will need to do some kind of resistance or body-weight exercises.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I am a bit lax on the exercise front. I'll try and remedy that and give up the fruit drinks and cornflakes. My occupation includes a lot of sitting too. I'll keep you informed as to how I get on.

    Hi Dylan33
chuck your Nutri Bullet and CHEW your food. Eat a piece of fruit, not a juice.
. By the time you have chewed it , your brain will send your appetite messages.
This will make you feel full
    I hope this helps

Your limbs must be like sticks with your stats.
As @Perthguy said, your underweight for your height and really would be best recomposing.
One you get some muscle mass on arms and legs, your "gut" should disappear.
How do you even have a gut at 75kg almost 2m tall, is that possible ?
Makes me think of a long legged version of E.T.

One of the dealers around the Druitt was 2 metres tall and 80 kg. We used to call him the praying mantis because he looked like one.

On those stats you can't be over weight. BMI of 19.25. Lose any more weight and you'll disappear when you turn sideways.
