Hahaha our no dog on the bed rule doesn't last a year. The no dog on couch still apply tho. I ended up sitting on the carpet instead.

It read like you were going to stick the dog outside 100% of the time.

Goldens are really good guard dogs because they distract the burglars and the intruders end up just hugging your dogs and then leaving.

Beautiful dogs @Tim86 . I am one of those tragic people that finds myself smiling at the screen when looking at these posts!

Tommy are you and the missus considering starting a family? If you are hold off on the dog. Before the kids i used to have heaps of time for my dog, two walks a day, took him in the car places, photos in santa hats..all that stuff. Now with a young family I just cant pay him anywhere near the same attention. I used to let him inside, there was hair but we cleaned it up regularly as we had more time. Now with kids, no time and we wouldnt want the baby crawling in pet hair and be slobbered on and licked by a dog. I know it doesnt bother some people but its not for us. When the kids are a bit older its ok but dogs and babies isnt a good mix.

Good points here - it upsets me to see dogs up for re homing all the time because they are no longer convenient.
We had the opposite experience as concerns a baby and a dog together though - our previous Weimaraner was 2 when my daughter was born - they very quickly bonded and many an afternoon was spent with the dog being used as a pillow, dress up dog etc. We still got the daily walks etc in and I believe it is a real positive to have had a dog in my daughters life from a very early age.
As for pet hair and slobber - never did me any harm (ok that is open for debate!). I have more concern that our homes have become so sterile with all the new super cleaning products that we dont have enough exposure to bacteria!

Yep - and even the cat poo if Mushka the dog could find it ... didn't stop the her coming inside and being best friends with junior right from birth ... they even used to drink from the same water bowl on occasion ... junior has rarely been sick in her life and nay a sign of any remote allergy.

People used to live with their farm animals in their houses over winter - we've become to sterile.

And the dog was great in that hubby and I would go for a walk of an evening to unwind - one pushing the pram and the other leading the dog

Looks like a Merle Collie. They have fur like that and blue eyes sometimes.
