    Hi everyone,

Long time lurker (SS & PC) - absolutely love reading the plethora of information provided by everyone in this forum!

    A little bit about me:
    • Live in western Sydney,
    • Work in Sydney CBD,
    • No ownership of any property (...looking to change that by the end of the year :)),
    • I enjoy playing ice hockey and love music.
A little bit about my short-term investing goals:
    • Looking to buy in Brisbane (Syd too expensive for me!),
    • Continue to rent in Syd while (hopefully) obtaining capital growth on Brisbane property,
    • Eventually (4-5 yrs) look to buy a PPOR in Sydney (dependant on Syd market and Bris property CG).
Looking forward to continue reading and conversing with you all! :D

    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Welcome aboard Daniel @Frazz :)

Sounds like a solid plan and a big year for you.

What's the budget for Bris? House/townhouse/apartment?

    Thanks D.T. and Steven.

Budget for Bris would be maxing out around the 450k range. My preference is for a house, however not ruling out a townhouse or apartment if the numbers stack up. Still trying lock down areas to focus in on!

Lots of options for houses in that price range @Frazz :)

Is good cashflow important or a secondary consideration to capital growth?

Good to hear @Steven Ryan! :)

I'm predominately after capital growth and am OK if cashflow is not great. Would be fantastic to have both... :D

I wish you luck narrowing down your options to a few suburbs. You have plenty to chose from!

Sounds like a good plan @Frazz (and welcome!)

IMO a smart move to look outside of where you live, particularly given the stage of the market in western Syd.

Welcome Frazz. Congrats on your decision to take charge of your financial future. Agreed Sydney is peaking now and it will be a good time to buy once it plateaus. Brissy has the rental return. Though no one has a crystal ball.

Edit...plenty of options in your budget in Brissy!!
