G'day everyone! Am a real novice when it comes to investing. Would love to learn the ropes from you experienced, learned lot A little blurb about myself..Recently (about 10 months ago) moved here from sunny Queensland for work reasons. Initially thought it will be a stop gap measure but we really like it here and have decided to make 'berra home Have a house up in Brissy which we would like to hold onto (it's in North Lakes). Currently renting here but would like to get a place of our own eventually. Our little one will be starting childcare soon (around the Woden area) that comes with good wraps so ideally would like to find a place to buy around here. Have a budget of around 500-530K and were hoping to get a 4 bed 2 bath 2 carpark house but from what little research I've done so far, that may be wishful thinking! I guess we might have to compromise and consider townhouses (or even units) to get our foot in the door, so to speak. Would love to know your thoughts. Thank you and Happy Friday
You may find you're better off renting where you want to live if your budget won't stretch that far, and buying an IP somewhere you can afford.
And probably even Macgregor? But yeah, it will be a fair trek coz I work in Woden too. Mind you, the distances aren't anywhere near what I'm used to in Brisbane so we will probably have to consider casting our net a bid wide to suit our budget.
That's what my missus' opinion is too, Jess. But since we haven't looked around much yet, want to keep it as our last option.

Welcome, nice to see another Canberran! Definitely properties in that price range around... Might have to compromise a little in terms of distance to Woden or size. I'm selling a couple of 4/2/2 houses in West Belconnen in that price range at the moment. Not trying to sell them to you, just saying there are definitely options out there.

What are your thoughts on the newer 'burbs in Molonglo Valley? Wright, Coombs, etc. My initial thoughts were that they were a bit pricey! Houses are definitely out of question for me but there are townhouses within range. Although, some are advertised at 570k for a 3 beddy!
