This does seem like a good opportunity to introduce myself since I didn't on somersoft.

I'm a 30 year old Perth guy who accidentally got hooked onto property investment while researching how to best use my First Home Buyer's Grant - that was about 4 years ago. I've picked up the following since then:

Duplex pair (1x1s) in Hilton - Feb 2012
    3x1 house in Langford - June 2012
Duplex pair (2x1s) in Pinjarra - May 2013
    A 1960s church in the wheatbelt - September 2014

The church is more of a fun project rather than an IP to be honest - working on converting it to a residential dwelling.

When I'm not scouring realestate.com.au listings, I work as a community legal centre lawyer doing a variety of generalist areas. Although somewhat controversially for this forum, one of my expert areas is residential tenancy law, haha.

Unfortunately, giving free legal advice isn't a great business model, so I have to truck along on a community services salary - which partly motivates me to make some coin in property so I can continue doing what I love.

I've made semi regular appearances at Perth meetups in the past, so hopefully I can meet some of you there too.

You've done well for yourself in 4 years, imo. Good job!

Nice to meet you thatbum (love your username too :p)

    Welcome!

I am very curious about the Church.

I really liked the look of this one:

I've been a bit slack on the church front actually - been working on a pair of granny flats to be built behind the Hilton duplexes.

I'm just locked down a floor plan now. I'm adding a mezzanine level for the back third of the building, and creating a bedroom and bathroom underneath. It was quite a struggle to figure out where to put the stairs on an A frame building like this...

Hopefully I'll be able to post more details as I progress!

Digging the church, plans for a future PPOR? Or will you look at renting it out after renovations done?

Yeah I totally would love to live in a church except its almost 3 hours from Perth. Bit of a commute to work.

Thinking about renting it out, possibly even on airbnb, until the day that I go full grey nomad (my financial freedom goal).
