Anyone have one? Are they good for drying damp clothes ?

Im thinking about buying a 5 bar one from Bunnings .

Do you think they add value ?

Is this for yourself or for an IP?

IP = Less stuff to break, the better.

I think there's better value features you could add to an IP than heated towel rails. Things like dishwashers, built in robes, air cond, etc all add to the rent-ability of the IP whereas I doubt heated towel rails would do much of anything.

Nek your right , no its for my own apartment .

Funny you said that , i was going to put a new heated towel rail in the IP and the Uber driver i had talked me out of it "why would u put a heated towel rail in a IP unless the rent goes up ?, he said . And i thought yes he's right as i am poor and dont have money to waste.

Your right about the built in robes , i think thats one of the biggest drawn ins for tenants ! !
Tenants dont like to be lumping up wardrobes in lifts etc in moving in .

I got a wardrobe from Ikea and tenants said it was a great idea

One of my IPs in Ballarat, a Period home, didn't come with any built-in. I put these ones from Fantastic Furniture: Solid and durable. Been 2 years still strong and no problem:

I might add curtains to that list. LOL
My parents didn't think it was important to have curtains for the windows for their IP o_O

Oh in that case, do whatever makes you happy.

I wouldn't be using them to dry clothes - I would use a clothes dryer for that. I would say a clotheshorse with a fan pointed at would do a better job than a heated towel rail.

It is a pretty awesome feeling to put a nice warm towel around yourself after a shower especially in winter. Question is whether you can price on that. I couldn't, so i never got one :D (it was more the cost of somehow fitting a power point there that made it prohibitive).

    Smart uber driver :)

Personally - I wouldn't even bother for my own place. It's a luxury I could do without - and it's just another thing that will eventually need to be fixed/replaced. I'll just continue to throw my towel over the shower screen :)

    Cheers

I don't have a shower screen... and to clean excess water I have a $2 squeegee that i replace once every 2 years. :D

I won a heated towel rail in a bet with my wife. I still haven't installed it. $0 value-add....... and some mystery person picks it up off the floor where I drop it. :)

Well I thought it was a mystery person but now I'm starting to think that I've got one of those magic washing baskets too.

I have a heated towel rail in one of the bathrooms. Great for drying damp towels - especially in winter.

We stayed in a few B&Bs in the UK which had heated towel tails, they were wonderful. No damp towels.

We didn't go with heated towel rails, but we did put in underfloor heating when we renovated our bathroom. I looooooove having slightly warm tiles in winter.

Have put a heated towel rail on a timer in previous PPOR with a timer. Morning and evening it warmed the bathroom and dried the towels. New PPOR (1 of 3 townhouses we have just built) has ducted gas heating in the bathroom so hopefully that will suffice.

PS my daughter thinks she has one of those coffee tables, which I refer to as her "floordrobe".

Not sure of quality but I was eyeing off some on crazysales.com.au that were substantially better priced than Bunnings for same look and watts etc. House I just bought has zero towel rails, but a large wall space in each bathrooms which looks like they probably had standing towel rails there. Some new in box ones showed up on gumtree too.

Do the towels have to be hung single layer to dry after a shower on the heated rails? Or can you have them folded in half and then hung over the rails?
Only asking as I only have room for one thats about 650-700mm wide, and our towels are wider than this and would need to be folded in half lengthways before hanging on the rails. If they still dry like that then I might get one!
