    I’m over it.

Perth has already broken the city’s record for the most days at 40C or over during summer - and it’s only the start of February.

The previous record for the most days at 40C or over during a Perth summer was seven in 2015/2016.

As it stands, Perth has experienced 11 days at 40C or over since the start of December, and with another 40C day predicted for Saturday the number is set to climb to 12.

And bear in mind it is only the start of February (typically Perth’s hottest month), meaning Perth could well and truly double the previous record for the most days at 40C or over.

You've had a shocker year. Today, out east, it's winter conditions ... howling wind, wet and chill. Barely making it into the 20s ... so much so I made a hearty beef and vege chunky soup for dinner

I would gladly swap. I'll even take the tail end of a cyclone and all it's humidity for some rain to give something different from living in an oven.

TRANSCONTINENTAL rail freight services from Australia’s eastern states to Western Australia and the Northern Territory have been severely disrupted by heavy rainfall in the South Australian outback, which has cut the main Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) rail corridor in several places.

All east-west freight services to and from Perth have been suspended since January 21, and ARTC said on January 26 the line was unlikely to reopen for another 12 days. Intermodal and iron-ore trains on the line to Darwin have also stopped as they use the ARTC line between Port Augusta and Tarcoola.

So Coles and Woolies are running out of the usual Covid suspects plus more - frozen fruit and veg, dairy, bacon.

Apparently it’s good for the independent butchers.

    24c in Sydney today.
Out in the west, we usually have at least 10 days over 40c in summer.
This year, we have had none at all so far, thanks to the constant showers.
    Very strange summer.
