    Hello all,
I know not property related and there has been other queries on Health Insurance but I had a question for the community (which has been so helpful)
Currently with Medibank and will be paying now 280 per month (Family with 2 Kids) and Full Hospital Extras

I know there are various comparison sites such as Finder, Iselect etc but clearly they don't compare all funds and policies

Just wanted to know who people are with so it may point me in the right direction to review my policy

    Kind Regards as always

    TT

    Hi!

I just did this last week. The government has a private health insurance comparison website, you will need your end of year financial statement from your health fund to do a good comparison (SIS statement).

Not sure if I should paste a link, the website is privatehealth dot gov dot au

    Good luck!

    Kassy

(I googled "gerbil man" as I couldn't recall his name).

    Thanks Kassy
I'm with Medibank and looks like the best option is to stay with them
I guess it's just a case of starting to get expensive

We qualify for defence health through family connection. There are also a few members choice/not for profit funds that are cheaper than Medibank for good cover. When looking, I also had a look at what we claim and how much we currently get back and what we would get back with a new provider. Took a couple of calls but definitely worth it for us to switch - 2 adults + baby/toddler...

It depends on your circumstances definitely.

We are with NIB. I chose it because i can choose the extras i want (I don't want). I hated that for many other policies I would have to pay for chiropractor, natural therapy, dietry advice, message etc, that i would never use . I don't need all that.

I now pay $210 per month for a family of 4, and get major dental and optical, which is what i want.

I believe choice has a good unbiased tool for comparing heath insurance sites. I will have to look it up.

Personally, i am getting more and more cynical about Health insurance

    Hi

I am with Medibank Private and pay $218.35 for a single adult. I have been on the top end cover with Medibank Private since or around 1992.

I did do some shopping around with comparison sites, including talking to iselect. People are telling me to stay where I am because I am on an old and very good rebate system and if I leave Medibank Private now I will never be able to return to the rebate system I am currently on as it is no longer offered and not profitable for the private health insurance companies to offer it to new customers anymore.

Is this all bulldust to keep charging me $218.35 per month?

    Regards,

    alicudi

I don't think it is BS. I was told the same about an old NIB cover we had. In the end we also switched to Defence Health as we have a family connection. The claims for some of the things we regularly use brought the premium down to below what NIB was costing us.
