Just wondering. Most people would probably do more exercise if they weren't at home all day. Home is where the food is too.

Anyway, weighed myself and the scales at the doctors show I'm the same weight or maybe a kilo less than normal. Which was a surprise. Spoke to the reception lady at the doctors and she reckons it over reports weight too.

Now I think the chemist's scales (showing extra weight) were quite wrong.

We went on a European river cruise last September and I gained 3kg in two weeks. I didn't eat stupidly, didn't even eat dessert most nights, but didn't hold back if I really wanted something. I've been trying to lose it ever since, but it's not easy at a "certain age".

I'm using an elliptical or a leg-swinger each day, mostly for my heart health, but surely, surely that hour a day should be helping me to lose a little? But no...

I've reduced my weight by 5kg. However, it could also be due to a dietary change with a greater amount of vegetables, less meat, and starchy foods. Plus more walking for exercise.

One advantage of being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes so it may not be due to Covid-19. :D

    Cruises are so dangerous!
Firstly the eating (unless you are controlling yourself well), then the opportunity to do no physical activity, then the threat of viral outbreaks....

I decided to start running a few weeks ago, distance, as I used to only do short sprint training and strength training.
Did close to 80km last week mostly running, some kickbike/footbike and brisk walking.
It really feels great to build on aerobic capacity.
Weight has come down a little over this period.

Walking not allowed here so hard not to put on weight being inside 24 hours a day. I see some neighbors pacing back and forwards for hours on small terraces, very boring though.

Had a hiking holiday booked for a few weeks ago so I decided I needed to get into shape. I bought a rowing machine.

Starting February I started a daily workout of 15 minutes on the machine and a variety of other exercises, about 30 minutes in total. I've done it consistently for at 5-6 days a week since then.

I've lost a few kilos and put on quite a bit of muscle. Definitely a lot fitter.

So tough for you. I’m dreading my 2 weeks hotel confinement.

Thank goodness for my one walk a day in UK. Looking forward to choosing my own menu again when I get back.

Each morning I go for a walk at 5 and take a different route, yesterday was a 5k walk with an 8kg slam ball in a backpack; get home have a break and then do a workout which I mix up each time

i.e tried 50 "navy seals" yesterday (prison style, why not we're in lock-down :D) broken into groups of 10 then some tabata squat jumps/planks and finished off with deadlifts

One of the hotel confinement guests said that the best thing he did was pack a skipping rope. So if you can skip it's a great thing to pack and takes up hardly any room. Easiest way to get the heart pumping in a small confined space.

Not sure where I’d buy one, maybe see if the oldies have some rope in the shed.

They are in high demand at the moment but most online sporting stores will send to you if you have time before you fly back.

I don't weigth myself as in the past I have had unhealthy obsession. I due use measuring tape and so far didn't see major changes (YAY). I do feel uneasy with the potential of losing muscle mass and stamina because I can no longer swim regularly.

Changed it to short morning run and some brief yoga, but nothing beats swimming for me.

Yes. Weight loss is significantly about nutrition and calories in. Exercise is important, but eating a nutrient rich diet is the single biggest difference in maintaining a healthy weight. Plus your insides will be loving you for all the fibre you're putting in your body!

I’m with Wyllie on the ‘age’ thing. I’ve put on heaps on weight but it’s so much harder to shift now with diet. I think the only way would be exercise. I love walking but had some heel issues. Should be better in a couple of months so I hope to go walking a couple of times a week. I just chucked all my clothes that are way too small. Got sick of having to try on ten outfits before finding something that fits me before going out.
