There have been a few recent posts about Brisbane food. We tend to go out to brekky/brunch more often than dinner. And there are some great brekky places around. Today we went to Massimo at 123 Eagle Street, right on the river. We chose the Sunday lunch Italian Feast at $48 per person. The food was amazing. We were with our Sicilian brother-in-law. He's a fabulous cook, and very fussy when eating out. He gave it a 9 out of 10. That's high praise from him. It is well worth a visit for Sunday lunch. Sooooo much food. I thought it was fantastic value for $48 a head. And delicious.
Sorry. I'm not into selfies or photos of my food. But this is the menu. Each item came out on a plate for sharing, and there was more than enough for four of us. We couldn't eat it all. Some plates were placed on a three level stacker, others on the table. After we were stuffed full, out came the dessert, all for sharing. Bellissimo.
I love finding a great restaurant/cafe ... so many times I try somewhere new and are disappointed, but there are a few local joints I frequent again and again (and will rave about to anyone who cares to listen). I want my chef prepared food to be "OMG this is amaaaaaazing" - not - I make better at home
I've been to this place a couple of times for colleague farewells.... love the food. And one of the staff has an amazing memory, she says if you tell her your name once, she'll never forget it. In the Grace Hotel Sydney. Not a big restaurant, but terrific food. JAPANESE CUISINE Gold Class DARUMA | Authentic Japanese Cuisine in Sydney CBD
Yesterday we went to a wedding reception at Three Blue Ducks Roseberry in Sydney, simply beautiful food. Today, lunch at Ripples Milsons Pt, also highly recommended. Thanks @Gockie for the Daruma tip, Mrs Twodogs says her colleges also rate it highly, and they do know Japanese food Her tip for the best Japanese in Sydney is Masuya , we get the head sushi chef preparing for us personally so happy to give a plug.
Thanks for sharing. Good to know you’re enjoying your email, even at $48 per head. Do you remember know who was in the same address? Must say there have been a lot of nice brekky places, in CBD or suburbs alike. This is not good for my waistline esp for winter, always need comfort food There’s s Three Blue Ducks in W Hotel, Brisbane. Have read some positive reviews. Shall try them out one day...
anyone trying this? between now and 11 August, some restaurant are doing 50% off for food. (drinks full price) TheFork Festival - TheFork AU I tried 2 in Syd this week...it's actually good deal if some of your fav restaurants are on the list, or if you like to try some you haven't been
This afternoon I lay around in my PJs and watched last night's Mediterranean foodie shows from SBS staring some British guy in a yacht. It cost me nothing and OMG the food, the yacht and the scenery was amazing. Drinking cheap cask wine at home alone and eating a home-made slow cooked beef stew. *****Celeste Barber, eat your heart out.
There were other places next to and above, but I didn't take notice of the names. Someone said Michaels used to be there, but I'm not sure. The $48 a head was great value because it was four courses. But had we not chosen that option and chosen from the menu I would have had one course. It would be cheaper of course, and I could probably get on the scales tomorrow. I won't be doing that. I'm told Massimo is owned by the same chap as George's Paragon, a little further along. We went there in April and the food was very good.
My dear Wylie, you're not someone I believe should be worried about their weight! I know you are a moderator and honestly, I'm not trying to suck up
In my family, like @wylie, it’s my wife who has a weight problem. In my wife’s case, she has to put weight on, otherwise it will be dangerous fo her. But we can’t go to restaurants very often at all.
Barca is pretty good for food, lunchtime specials 3 course including paella with a bottle of wine for 10 euro. Or all you can eat sushi, also 10 euro. But I miss the great south east Asian food in Australia, spicy stuff not popular here. Looking forward to some Sydney food courts next month.
George is good for seafood. Wonder whether they still do half-price weekend? Our favourite outlet is in Sanctuary Cove. Nice looking boats there!
The buffet at Marriott on the Gold Coast has quite a decent selection and if you like seafood it's impressive. It certainly isn't cheap and doesn't have the selection of dishes that a Vegas Buffet has, but its seafood and the hand-made macadamia nut ice-cream are two of its highlights.
I highly recommend a restaurant called Indu, in Sydney's CBD for the most delicious Sri Lankan/South Indian food. About $60 for entree and mains per person. Even writing this here has made a drool a bit. I'm extremely fussy about eating out and rate this place a 10/10. Just make sure you tell them how hot you want your food to be.
Due to diet limitations I dont eat out much anymore, though typically when I do its to Brazillian restaurants as they are easiest to keep compliance with whilst also filling me up. As a result when I've done weekends away or work trips, I've been to the one in Subiaco Perth, Eagle St Pier Brisbane, East Tce Adelaide, Darling Quarter Sydney, Coogee Sydney and Melbourne CBD. They are all great. <3 Brazilian. Especially Picanha
I agree - I hate going out for food and having it be crapper than I eat at home. We don't go out much anymore, so when we do we go to places we know are going to be amazing. Hubby is an awesome cook, so the standard is pretty high these days!
