@Depreciator already booked a full day trip snorkelling, don't like the sounds of vomiting tourist - partner and I both are fine so hopefully we can focus on the view instead. But I do like the sounds of the speedboat

@TAJ thanks for the tip, that sounds awesome - will check out the hand glide.
    We're booked with Q/silver.
Will make sure I checkout the Combines Club, partial to a coldie.

Nautilus Restaurant in Macrossan street is pretty good also. Once again you will need to book.
While you have the rental car do yourself a favour and visit Mossman gorge. About 25 minutes north of Port. Great place to cool off on a hot day. Scenery is beautiful.

Thanks @TAJ I looked at Nautilus earlier today online :)
Thoughts on Harrison's - looks like some mixed reviews

Port Douglas has a great array of eating places, from beachside breakfast cafes to your more upmarket dinner restaurants.
Salsa Bar & Grill, Nautilus and On the Inlet would probably be the most popular restaurants in town. The emphasis being on local fresh seafood together with fusion dishes.
Harrison's restaurant is pretty much next door to Salsas. I feel the ambience and vibe would be more to your liking at Salsa.
The Courthouse Hotel (can't miss it) has live music Sunday avos in the beer garden. Very popular with tourists after a stroll around the local markets at the park opposite which commence Sunday morning each week.
The Ironbar ( also in Macrossan street) has cane toad racing normally Wednesday nights. Good for a laugh. You'll be surprised how much some patrons punt on them!

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. Only to happy to help.

@TAJ have you eaten at Osprey's Restaurant?
We're staying in Craiglie and have a hirecar so 10min drive no issue.

Osprey's restaurant is at Thala Beach lodge, south of Port Douglas, near Oak Beach. You will pass it on your way up to Port. It will be on your right hand side as you are heading north. Not far south from the turn off to Port. Approx. 5 - 10 minutes.
Normally people staying at the lodge dine there, however it is open to the general public for meals. I dined there many years ago now but recall being pleasantly surprised. The setting is superb and a little remote if you get what I mean. Quite a romantically quiet spot. I suggest giving them a call and asking what's on the menu..... it can be at times completely different to the regular cuisine on offer in other restaurants.

Where in Craiglie are you staying? Sea Temple perhaps, Links resort?
    Sorry forgot Airbnb.

Stayed at Angsana resort and spa some years back now. It may have changed name now or possibly ownership. It was fabulous!

Best burgers and onion rings are at N17 in Port. I travel from Palm Cove more often than I should for one of their burgers.

What's the food like at IronBar @TAJ might be a goer for the first night there.
    Any other recommendations?

Sounds like a nice trip away coming up.
I would consider going to the Combines club on Dickson Inlet for a meal over the Ironbar. Nice outdoor area overlooking the water. Meals are substantial and beer always cold!
The Ironbar after dinner for music and entertainment.
    Enjoy yourselves..

I'm just back from diving in Bikini Atol. The attached photo is of me inside the IJN Nagato at 55m.

    Best. Trip. Ever.

Thought I'd dovetail on this thread...I excitedly booked a night of camping in Lady Musgrave Island in January '22 to then realise it would cost the family just shy of $2000:eek: for a return transfer from Bundaberg/1770 - a massive 60km trip

Guess there goes my $30 booking fee in smoke. I mean if anyone wonders why people don't bother holidaying in Oz, here's a glaring example. Extortion at its finest.

Probably cheaper to hire a helicopter.

Definitely Thala Beach (for lunch) best views of rainforest and coast, spectacular architecture and good food too.

We've chartered a sailboat for 10days for not much more off Airlie Beach for November! Can't wait. I can't sail but I'm tagging along for the ride with friends and his parents, works out to $80/night!

I was in 1770 two weeks ago and cruises out to the reef were cancelled due to the wild weather. I saw a few signs around the place stating that camping on some of the little islands is currently closed but I dont recall the names.
