There is an annual thing around March called the Marrickville Open Studio Trail where local art studios are opened up for a weekend for people to have a stickybeak at. Down the bottom of my street, there is a big, old warehouse full of artist studios. I wandered down to have a look and found a bloke who does ceramics. He mostly makes plates and bowls, but mucks around with lights, too. I saw a prototype of one he was experimenting with and I talked him into making a couple for me.
It took a while - there were a few tragedies.
I like them being one of a kind (well, two), and I like that they were made locally.
They're a bit hard to photograph - especially with an old phone.
