    Better from afar :p

Nah. I grew up 10 minutes north. Gosford as a city centre finally died in the early 90s thanks to Erina etc. Successive Councils did their best to kill it even further. However the new GM the new director of planning and the elected councillors have made a huge difference. They are really making a difference and pushing things to encourage development.

If the new performing arts space (which we are on the winning design comp team :D) on the waterfront goes ahead it will Kickstart other development because the CBD has turned it's back on the single greatest natural asset it has.

Council has also extended the cbd bonus provisions which was a great step.

However unemployment is still an issue and there needs to be some relocation of large government departments etc to provide some critical mass.

After years of inaction things are finally happening and that gives me a lot more confidence. A strong pro growth council is what the area needed.

Thanks Andrew, looks like you have a great gig. Employment is my concern as it is one of the drivers. Businesses must be encouraged to establish there. The shopping centre with aldi and woolies is undergoing a makeover. What is called? Along Henry parry drive.

    Imperial Centre.

Great local construction firm got the gig which is good. Keeps the money in the area.

One good thing about a lot of the investment in the area is a lot of them make a point of using local companies. Eg we have Magenta Shores and a couple of big developments in The Entrance on our books. Another firm in E. Gosford picked up the Gosford cbd stuff. Keeps the money in the local economy which has huge flow on effects.

There are a lot of successful small and mid sized businesses in the area. But more major employers are needed. The ATO are coming, following the successful move of workcover.

@AndrewTDP sounds positive. Big companies with big vision and long leases will give the city the opportunity for jobs. Looks like I should keep a close watch on Gosford.

    Gosford Hospital
The $368 million Gosford Hospital redevelopment will significantly upgrade healthcare provision on the Central Coast.
This hospital upgrade will deliver a new emergency department, intensive care and high dependency unit expansion, improved operating theatres, maternity services and more inpatient beds for medical, acute and sub-acute services. Clinical and non-clinical support services, and car parking, will be increased. Early works are underway.

    www.nsw.gov.au/rebuilding-health

    Also from JRPP :
Construction of a new three storey addition to the north-eastern corner of the existing hospital building, comprising a basement car park (21 spaces); Level 1 day surgery reception/theatre expansion; a Level 2 empty shell for a future CCU (Cancer Care Unit): and revised driveway entries/exit in Burrabil Ave providing vehicular access to the hospital and the proposed new day surgery Level 1 patient admission area; and minor internal alteration/refurbishment of the existing hospital day surgery (Level 1); maternity ward (Level 2); and medical ward (Level 3) areas.

    Approved

Workcover have already moved there and used to take up the entire building just near that bridge.
