    Hi all,

Getting either a floating wooden floor or laminate floor into a new unit.

We think picking the right company to install the floor is key so a good job is done.

Any recommendations from experience of providers in the sydney area to install? the apartment is wolli creek beside the airport.

    Thanks
    Stephen

We found ours on gumtree as they were the most affordable. We checked their material first before deciding. We went for laminate.
We did have a look at all those fancy named companies but their offerings were quite dearer.

These guys were charging us for full labour + materials compared to what others quoted us for materials only.
They did a very good job, i was impressed in the detail they put in.
And they didn't charge us a cent for coming to Central Coast compared to others quoting us $200-250 extra.
Only downside was it was a little hard to communicate to the labourers as they were chinese and had very little English so you had to call the other person back in the showroom to discuss anything. But he was available straight away all the time.

Check that flooring in the pic i posted here (not the paint lid)
Paint colour suggestions. Feature wall combo

We've just laid (hubby did it - not me) waterproof vinyl plank flooring straight over a concrete floor at an IP. Looks great, feels solid (unlike some floating floors that sound hollow). There would be no sound issues with any downstairs neighbour.

I'm a convert and so easy to install.

    Hiya

Do you already have the flooring? If not - would you consider going with a one stop shop (supply and isnstall?) - it probably ends up being a bit dearer but I'd assume that the quality of the job would be decent given the installers relationship to the supplier (a supplier would, I assume, avoid a crap installer).

Otherwise - check out the HI pages and post a job - ask for proof of similar jobs.

    Cheers

    Jamie

OK I'm going to attempt this myself next weekend at our place.

Did you put down underlay? Do you NEED underlay on a concrete slab. And how easy is easy lol?

What tools do I need? Yep I'm hopeless but willing to give it a crack. Been quoted $25 per sqm. Too high IMO for something which 'looks' simple.

Tongue and Groove. I believe they glue them side by side, but not to the underlay.
