Sorry if it's a novice question, it's just that it's the first time I am buying a property, and trying to educate myself.

Is it generally a smart idea to hire the Building and Pest inspectors recommended by your Conveyancor/Conveyancor Solicitor?

    Thanks,
    Sue

If the solicitor has been appointed by you (not one recommended by the agent), no issue.

I find it quite strange that a conveyancer would recommend given potential liability issues if the pest and building inspector were to miss something and be liable to you in tort or breach of contract. That said, conveyancers, in New South Wales at least are precluded by the Rules of Conduct contained within the Conveyancers Licensing Regulation from accepting inducements or payments for referrals so the referral should, on the face of it be ok.
