Have a look at the lavazza pod system if you still want the convenience but a stronger coffee. I had the same issue with Nespresso as you did. Nespresso pods have 4.5 g of coffee in them and lavazza 7g.

Nespresso must be doing alright from these pod things. They have a fairly good sized store in the mall next to Melbourne Central and it's exclusively Nespresso products.

I have given away the pods, going back to ground coffee beans

Can someone recommend a nice blend for a long coffee. Not too strong and not sour.....smooth would be good

    Same same.

I have a Nespresso machine at home and office.
I usually go for short black espressos these days but I do love a good affogato when I'm meeting people at a cafe.

Sorry. Can't help you. I have quit coffee for the year.

Back in the day when I drank real coffee, from memory it was Braziliano coffee. I can't remember if it was Classico or Espresso. I think Espresso. You can buy it at Re Store.

Wholesale decision pays off for Re Store

Coffee will be like mud if it's fresh "ground".

I'm not sure about equipment you may already have.

You need a good grinder. Not one that that's just got spinning blades. I really like the Breville smart grinder pro. It delivers consistent grind fineness and quantity every time. $250 to $300 but it's worth it. Mine has lasted me for years. If you've got great coffee but a crap grinder it will be a waste of money. If you buy one of these, you won't be able to afford good coffee anyway.

For making the coffee I use an aeropress. I like it a lot, but some don't. I get more consistent good coffee than some expresso machines (not that I've tried many).

Beans depend on your own taste to some extent.

It's all in the freshness. Go local.

There will be some mad wired-up coffee roaster nearby who has been perfecting his/her blends for years.

    Find them.

Then get the coffee the day it has been roasted. Only buy small amounts and store it in your freezer.

Grind only what you need then shove it back in the freezer once done.

This will change your life. :)

@geoffw "expresso"? o_O wash your mouth out with soap! Espresso. Please!

5 senses and Braziliano are roasted locally.

It has been mentioned on this thread already, but I use an aeropress. Very similar to a plunger but it also has a paper filter. They cost around $50. I take it into the work (And basically every where I go..)

    Much better than a plunger.

Infact most Asian coffee is great!
