I think that's because one pod is the equivalent of half a shot whereas a café made coffee will have at least two or three shots. I make a coffee with 2 nespresso pods, one Ristretto and one Arpeggio using the "Espresso" setting on the machine. It makes a reasonable coffee, but as you point out, it does not compare to a café made coffee. One of the issues is the low quality coffee in nespresso pods. Dolce from Coles makes a better coffee but someone at my work goes nuts if we use them :(

Anyway, I suspect I would need three pods to get close to a café style coffee but that just seems wasteful. I might might try two pods and put each through the machine twice using the ristretto setting?

If you're using 3 pods you might as well pay for a real coffee!

I certainly tried using two pods in my vain attempt to try to make a reasonable cup of pod coffee.

No matter how bad your coffee is, it could be worse. Just remember how Baldrick makes cappuccino.

After having a "real" coffee machine I couldn't do without it. I would never buy a pod machine. It's not that difficult as it does everything (well so my hubby tells me). LOL
It wasn't cheap but we rarely buy coffees out now. We get the cappuccino fix at home. If we do buy one out we compare it to hubby's ones. He could be a barista I think. Whenever we have people coming over we do need to make sure we have lots of milk. Even the grandkids ask for a babycino.

I tried running the pods through twice on the ristretto setting. It really intensifies the flavour of the coffee. When dealing with nespresso pods, that's not a good thing :(

Not quite THAT easy. Press the button, coffee grinds into little cup. Press and put back in machine. Press button, Hot water goes through. Froth milk, pour. Milk jug goes in dishwasher, rinse little cup. Now make sure no one tells my hubby I know how to do this.;) He makes the best coffee.

They still dish out the International Roast at the nursing home. What they don't know won't hurt them (too much).
