    Yep; love Sergio; one of the best players out there year in and year out; would love to see him win a few more Majors - deserves a few.

    I think if you haven't heard of Dustin Johnson you've basically not been following golf for the past 5 years!

    Until he won a couple of weeks ago he was the best player on earth without a major, he's almost certainly the biggest off course name outside Tiger given his whole love affair with the nose candy and that he's engaged to The Great One's daughter and all that! Not to mention he's famous just for the ways he managed to find to not win majors over the last few years.

    Was great to see him win, the way he just murders the golf ball makes me all happy on the inside!

    Off to play golf shortly, but thought you might like to see what we confront early in the morning where I often play;

    Some amazing things happen in golf; here is one of them from last week.
    In a practice round, I hit two drives on a Par 5. Both were good shots, on the fairway approx 260m. Here's how they ended up;

    The gap between them was less than 1cm!!

    @Bayview got any thoughts on the
    Taylor Made M2 driver v the Titleist 917 D2 or the Callaway Epic divers ?

    I took the M2 & 917 for a hit today found them
    ok but different.

    Think I'll end up having my local pro fit me up but would appreciate any thoughts you had

    Cheers

    I am probably the wrong person to ask because I still use a Cobra driver I bought back in 2007!! :eek::p ......It still works fine. I have used other drivers which hit it a few yards further, but the trusty old Cobra still consistently hits more fairways; and that's all I really want.

    Is 10 more yards a good thing? It feels nice, but has zero impact on your score. Proven fact, so I keep coming back to the Cobra.

    I have been out of the retail side of golf for too many years to be able to comment on any driver Brand over another.

    Two of the best (most accurate) drivers of the ball on the US Tour - Adam Scott (Titleist) and Sergio Garcia (Taylor Made) indicate that both are good brands, so either will be fine.

    My advice is to get a professional fitting by a properly qualified Clubfitter - not a shop salesman - and then see which Manufacturers provide the specs you require (most will be able to unless you have a very unusual set of specs).

    Outside of this; it's all cosmetic marketing....once you get fitted and have narrowed down the selection of Brands; pic the one you like the look of the most.

    By the way; what is your handicap, and how often do you play?

    My GA is ~6.6 I only play 6months of the year as I play top grade hockey.

    Always only played pretty much 6months of the year as played hockey seriously all my life, golf has been a summer sport.

    Whilst having good hand eye, hockey swing doesn't help my golf swing.

    Takes me a couple months of solid playing to get back to a reasonable swing.

    My GA is 6.2.

    I have set myself a goal to get to 4.9 it better by Christmas.

    Play at most once every 3-4 weeks currently
    when daylight savings comes I intend to play weekly.

    I hit the ball quite straight hit around 80% of fairways and play on a tight track.

    I don't hit the ball very far in comparison to other golfers of similar handicaps.

    My local pro sent me a msg he is more than happy to fit me out with some specs.

    The driver I currently use I bought 2nd hand in 2005 and the shaft doesn't suit me at all I know.

    Cheers,

    Phil
