The latest Pixar movie looks good, but then I'm biased.

Coco is a film set in Mexico. The protagonist visits the world of the dead on the day of the dead. It apparently pays a respectful homage to all things Mexican (music, food, customs, language) while still being an entertaining film.

It was released in Mexico just over a week ago in time for the Day of the Dead. It will be released in the US for Thanksgiving and in Australia Boxing Day. The people who have seen it in Mexico loved it.

IMDb rates it just 6.7, which is quite disappointing. It had potential.

I read the book when I was in high school. That was many many years ago. I was looking forward to it, I saw the trailer at the movies.

I was also hoping for something good from "The Man Who Invented Christmas". Although it hasn't been released yet, critics have not been kind.

I went to see this yesterday. Although the full release isn't happening in Australia until Boxing Day, they screened it for 3 days as a pre-release. Apparently, it has been made as a 3D movie, although the version shown was only 2D.

    We loved it.

OK, I'm biased, as I love the Mexican culture. But it was a beautiful movie, up there with Pixar's best. The colours, the music, the culture, the story- really well done, and a really entertaining movie.

There are words and phrases in Spanish which aren't translated. Some of these are obvious from the context, some aren't- but nothing in Spanish detracts from the movie. Apparently, a lot of the words are affectionate Mexicanisms, and some bring a laugh to those in the know.

A movie made by Americans being the top-grossing movie in Mexico must be doing some things right.

We recently saw MOT Orient Express and Bad Moms 2, both had low ratings. MOTOE was great, BM2 would be for stressed out teachers at the end of term, full of stereotypes and cliches. We didnt care, Mr Angel and I laughed so much we were in tears. Extra stars if you have Mummy Issues.

We went to see the Greatest Showman. It was much more my wife's sort of movie than mine. The music was enjoyable, and the show good fun- but I'm not a fan of the brash loud musical. My wife also enjoyed Moulin Rouge a lot more than I did - another semi surreal musical extravaganza. So if you enjoyed Moulin Rouge you are perhaps more likely to enjoy this one.

P T Barnum was an interesting character - but, like many stories made into musicals, any resemblance between life events shown in the movie and historical events is complete coincidental.

Heading off in the evening to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing. No a clue what it's about but my gal wants to see it and says it's good.

Watched 'All the Money in the World' and really enjoyed the performance by Christopher Plummer.
