I have a Property Manager and intend on going private as the tenant's lease is expiring next month. I am doing this as I trust the tenant and have known them for a few years.

I have printed off a few things from the REIWA website like the lease agreement and such. But how do I tell the PM that I no longer wish to use them. What is the normal process for this?

1: I have now moved back into the city so can self manage the property
2: I am now working part-time so have the time to manage the property
3: just give them formal notice with no reason

    I like number 3 :)

You can also give a reason, it's called "due to change of circumstances" ;)

Shoot them an email saying that you no longer require their services once the current lease finishes.

    Cheers

Just check the period of notice in your management agreement.

The management agreement finishes up in 3 months. Should I ask the tenant to sign up another lease until that date? I keep in touch him with through text so I can let him know what's going on.
