    Increase turnover and grow business
Finish current development project and start the next, hopefully buy another one to follow on with.
Invest some more time with some personal development.
Invest some more time in leisure ;)

    That should do for now.....

My goal in the next 12 months is

    1) increase my net worth by another 1 milion...lets see: if i have 10 properties that is 100K each; 4 properties will be 250K each; 2 properties would be 500K each..damn it... is that asset base wide or big enuff?!!

    2) run a charity event in Feb...not sure whether i shd invite people on this forum esp. Terry the cynic? haha!

    3) travel without my hubby but with my girlfriends to Asia without the attendant guilt.

    4) see my daughter through the stress of HSC..tough one as she needs 99.5 score to do Law at UniSyd.

    5) continue to learn about SMSF while waiting for property market to turn..Patience!

    6) learn to say "NO!" more often without the attendant guilt!

    Ok,
its almost my birthday and I like to set goals then as I measure myself by age not year. it helps that my bday is near the end of the year anyway
    I want to:
    1) be the best I can at my job, increase my value by education and qualifications.
    2) progress toward starting and completing my first small development (project value around 1mil) by: purchasing a developable IP at the beginning of the year and
    3) buying a second IP with development value in the second half/ last quarter of the year (in a different area for diversification).

    How will achieve this (2&3)?
-select areas which suit my strategy (I want to build equity to fund future ventures/ projects)
-complete fesos on what a potiental development would look like
-if unable to make a decision, sub it out to project managers or BA's

As for my personal life LA baby, just for a few weeks
and maybe a new toy or two, If I can afford them (thinking a new Ducati :D)

I can't speak for Usyd specifically but for UQ up in QLD, scores just aren't that important or worth getting hung up on. If you get it, great. If not, odds are you can go do 1 year of tafe (which is cheaper than 1 year of uni + you get a second qual from your resume) that you can credit against your first year of uni or you can go do something like Commerce, do well in first semester, change second semester to Commerce + law dual degree, enroll all in law units and drop the commerce part 6 months later. Sure, it costs you 6 months of your life, but if she really wants to be a lawyer 6 months is nothing.

Consider investigating whatever the local tricks are (and I'm sure UniSyd will have some), so that if the near perfect score doesn't happen you've got backup plans ready to go and its not a "this is the end of my dreams" type scenario.

Yep, getting into a lower entry score course at the uni of your choice and then transferring is a good way to go. Lots of Legal/Commerce dual degree holders around.

Most importantly, and I wish someone had told me this when I was still in HS. I doesn't really matter what you do when you finish school, as long as you're learning skills that give you options to earn an income. Obviously a 99.5 will give a world of options for uni entrance, but it's all forgotten once uni is done.

Thanks Guys for the heads up..interesting pathways!

BTW i went with my son to register him at UQ two years ago (he had an offer to do Medicine..) it is such a beautiful uni ; location wise...he subsequently had another offer and chose to remain in Sydney...

But wouldn't mind if my daughter ends up in UQ.....

That's the beauty about living in this fantastic country of ours. Always an opportunity to advance yourself and have options.

For myself personally, my father was so disappointed that I failed to gain entry into law after the HSC and he was drunk for a month afterwards because he thought my life was ruined ha ha. But now I have all the playing cards and have done better in all areas (work, number of degrees, property investing, being a good member of the community and etc) than my peers. Guess I am a late boomer.

I have been trying to get into the QFES all year. Its a painfully slow process, plus many, many thousands of applicants for a very small number of jobs. I've done all the online testing, supervised testing, physical testing, interviews, phyc tests and interviews, referee reports are all in and my location and recruit course preferences are in.

This week all I'm waiting for is One. Final. Email.

    Financial
    1) finish BlackMinster development and sell. Well - not finished and not sold but roof is on completion due about March 2017
    2) Purchase 3x IP - Nope
    3) Purchase development site (this will be the stretch goal) Nope
    4) purchase shares Nope
    5) reduce debt (target 30%). Nope (achieved about 12%)
    6) Build on vacant block. Nope - Market isnt viable
    7) Negotiate a pay rise Ha ha ha - I had to negotiate to keep my job.

    Life
    1) Move countries Yep
    2) Travel - Japan, Australia, ++++ (TBC). Yep (Japan, Australia several times, Bali (several times), Russia, Singapore, plus a couple of others)
    3) Sort out my parents retirement. Yep - Dad retired last week. Mum we made significant progress with!
    4) Finalise long term re-location plan and goals. Yep - Aus - here we come (Slowly)
    5) Set - and actually achieve - my fitness goals Ha ha ha - wrote this while finishing a 440g pack of M&Ms...
    6) read 12books - including more on personnel development. I read 21 books that I can count, however, there were a couple of others.

This year was a financial flop for me. Making as close to zero progress towards my financial goals as I could get. However, we still moved forward financially (just) despite spending in excess of $100k on holidays, operations (x2), re-location, school fees and 12months rent pre-paid - plus a couple of other 'one off' random expenses.
A lot of the lack of movement towards financial goals can also be associated with my personal view of world and Australian affairs. I believe a more conservative approach is required, and therefore have held higher cash reserves (offsets) than what I normally would.

However, as far as 'life' goals went I kicked a few pretty good ones into touch, or at least made good progress on them.

Time to focus on 2017... where is the 2017 goal setting thread?
