There are a large number of properties for sale in Gloucester, is this likely due to the uncertain future of the region with coal seam gas exploration near/on people's properties? I believe there was a pilot project at nearby Waukivory which was recently suspended due to detection of dangerous chemicals, and that if CSG goes ahead at Gloucester as planned they may be allowed to build wells within 200m of people's homes as the law banning that elsewhere does not apply to Gloucester. Unless there is another reason so many properties are for sale there. Anyone with personal experience in the region?
I have driven through that town often over the last 20 years or so. There have always been a lot of properties for sale there. It's a nice town, though.
I'm looking at some houses there. Affordable and nice and gentle undulating land in the rural area. Still drought affected.
From my memory, it is a nice little town with friend folks. I wonder do you buy houses for yourself or investment.
Like I said before,Gloucester is a lovely town. For me, it is a little bit too far away from major towns(Newcastle and foster are both 90mins away at least). Luckily it have a Woolworth. Local population merely have 3k, so renting might be limited. And I don't remember it have major economic activities in the area. In term of holiday and travel, Barrington top NP is good place to be, even it is not very well-known. The problem is the majority of people go to Upper Allyn which is kind of opposite side of Gloucester. And the NP near Gloucester is kind of boring to general public. This is all I know about Gloucester, I hope it helps you with your decision. Good luck
Love the Gloucester and Stroud areas. Dairy and beef cattle area with lots of history. Gateway to the Barrington Tops. We are waiting for regional travel to start and the National Parks to open and Barrington is going to be our first one. June 1 if all goes well Gloucester Tourism
