We had the opposite problem on both trips to Colombia to adopt our kids - my wife's maiden name is Manuel, which is never used as a family name in Colombia - so at almost every step of the process we had people insist we had made mistakes in our paperwork by putting a first name where we should have put a family name.

    I dunno..

I just cringe at the new age names people give their children, trying to be different, except everyone is trying to be different so they end up with a million Eva's and Charlotte', Mason's, Maddison's and Ebony's... Lol

I think this is a very loaded question and should be taken very seriously... Is there a pile of books someone has left you or pressure to add your ideas to a list??

Don't worry you'll get through it, it won't get any easier but you can do it. Write a bunch of names down so your seen to be contributing but be careful, they have to be "good" names that your wife would ok so your not just seting yourself up.

Pregnant woman can be a "challenge" hang in there bud! ;)

My wife and I recently had our second son. We only agreed on the name 2 weeks after he was born, and we were thinking about it from most of the pregnancy. I joke to people that choosing the name was harder than giving natural birth.

At the time I really liked the website, especially their Lists.
    nameberry.com

There are subcategories of lists such as 'Nature, Place and Word Names'
    - Bird baby names
    - Celestial baby names
    - Colour baby names
    - Fruit baby names
    etc

Whoa! Wow - thanks guys :) I didn't expect so many responses. This is awesome.

I also love the old names - at the moment I quite like Cora and Harriett ......but I get a lot of "you're kidding right?" when I tell people!

Surprised no one mentioned Demi :)

    Cheers

    Jamie

I'd be careful of Cora as a name. You wouldn't want her to be C Moore.

    Nora might be bad too.

    Our daughter is named Miranda.

We always steer away from what the current crop of popular names are.

But it also needs to roll off the tongue nicely.

    Karen Moore, Cynthia Moore,, etc

I like Michelle Moore...it's not bogan/rockstar/movie star like "Skyler" or "Destiny" etc

or Isabella or Ella like almost everyone on the planet.

Michelle is less common, but a nice, feminine "normal" name with some class.

(Picture Michelle Pfeiffer, for eg ;))

Michelle is a good name. One of our daughters is named Michelle.

But if I ever repeated the quoted sentence I would be in big trouble.

I named my daughter Kimberley, not Kimberly. If I have another baby girl, hmmm... No chance. A boy and girl enough for my wife.
