    Hello all,

This is my first post, but have been keenly studying the Canberra related posts on this forum. I really appreciate the insight.

What are your thoughts on buying in Ginninderra Estate (Holt). The estate has home and land packages $550k-$600k.

Considering Ginninderry is coming next door (although newer suburbs and not coming in until 2020) is it worth the plunge?

Especially for a FHB like myself.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi!
Do you want to buy new? For that money there is still good buying of older homes around Belconnen on bigger blocks...

    Just my opinion,

Thanks for the reply Kassy. Not too fussed on brand new ones but would like houses within the last 3-4yrs. Unfortunately there are not many within that budget unless I go further out to macgregor.

Yep, MacGregor and Dunlop would be it for recently built Belconnen in that price bracket...

You can buy a reasonably renovated house in central Belconnen for around 600k. Most new houses (especially by high volume builders) are so poorly built these days that it wouldn't make much difference anyway. These areas will already have infrastructure and amenities so you don't need to wait for the area to develop

I think if new is a desire for you then go ahead. Get a decent amount of land and enjoy. Ultimately you probably* wont see as fast a growth as stuff in the middle, but I could be wrong.

    Hi
We done this in 2019, purchased house land $536,000. Besides the power lines going in the estate has seem good growth our house is now valued at $650,000 with Ginninderry coming along quite strong.

Curious to know if you ended up in the estate.

I didn't realise this thread was started in 2018. Belco houses are all 800k+ now
