Congrats spludgey - yikes about the wedding planning, i haven't even thought that far ahead as yet.

I plan on leaving the wedding planning to her and our parents, although i'm not too sure what she'll think of that! :|

    Thanks MTR!

Wedding will definitely be in Sydney - coming from the subcontinent, our parents will probably both have a large say in the wedding. Its more of a family event rather than one between me and Zerlin.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of guests that i barely recognise, lots of photos and some pretty delicious food.

I'm mostly excited about the 'being married' part, haven't given much thought to the wedding as yet.

    Cheers,
    Redom

You probably already selected the engagement ring, if not read this.
Can save a substantial amount of money buying the stone and you can do this in Australia, no need to by on line or go overseas. I have become an expert on diamonds

Thanks Tonibell, and everyone! Appreciate it. Proposal details and pics.

Despite being together for 7 years (i proposed on our dating anniversary), we haven't actually lived together. She's been a little frustrated with the lack of time spent together etc (i travel a lot for work), so i took the hint and got a place for us to stay so at least we're together when i'm in Canberra (she works here).

Its in one of Canberra's nicer areas, a new apartment that we'd both previously inspected on a random day out before and suits her perfectly (her work happens to be a 5 minute walk away). She's sharing at the moment so its a pretty neat lifestyle upgrade for her.

I leased the apartment and started putting some of necessities together (just a mattress, her girly stuff after stalking her bathroom, pyjamas, moved in a few other bits and bobs. Also got a few paintings of a trip away and some of her favourite quotes to make the place more homely.

Told her we were going for dinner at one of her restaurants. Instead i set it all up at home (without a dining table!). Went to pick her up and instead blindfolded her and took her up to the apartment and proposed.

She pretty much didn't say anything, she was too busy getting emotional and excited about the place and left me hanging there for a while!

Went and furnished the place up on Sunday together. Was going to do it without her as part of the proposal but thought it made much more sense to have her input if we were going to call it our home.

Its been an expensive month, but a lot of fun and well worth it!

Haha thanks - i never saw this while shopping around! I've recently become an expert after talking to soon many people about diamonds. Most salespeople are quite frustrating to deal with - thankfully found a 'broker/jeweller' that knew his diamonds really well.
