It's the flat leaf stuff - the curly leaf parsley is also called English Parsley

I'll have your email on the database, and will send you a "heads up" about a month before it's ready for sale ... and again when the online store open ... thanks for the plug :D

Where do you think is the best place to buy garlic to grow - the local nursery?

Nursery probably won't stock it ... try looking online for growers. Diggers has a great selection - and properly identified, but they area little expensive.

However - when you consider you get 10-20 cloves from one bulb - depending on variety - and each clove becomes a new bulb - don't need much to get started.

If you're in NSW, Qld or Vic, you can buy from anywhere in Australia and have it posted to you no probs. I bought in 10kg of seed stock from WA last year.

BRAMP! Incorrect! I go to the local market and get it for a lot less than that and it's Aussie stuff and good.

Shopping at the supermarket for fruit and veg (and even meat) is a fool's errand.

Yep - have made both and they taste amazing - but don't have enough garlic to keep up with basic demand, let alone value adding.

The value added products might seem worthwhile due to their retail cost - but they also take up a lot of time, so needs to be considered carefully ... making the value added products are a lot more work than simply tidying up the garlic bulbs and popping them in a box to send

    Hi MTR
I grow garlic every year here in Mandurah with great success.
The time to plant here is just before Anzac Day.
Go to a farmers market or similar and find some local grown garlic.
Break up into cloves and plant throughout your garden pointy end up. Fertilize when you plant. It will shoot and pretty much look like a blade of grass. It will continue to grow for a couple of months . It's very hardy so don't fuss over it. The top growth will eventually brown and die off this is time to dig up your garlic .hang it in a shed to dry and then eat as you need. I plant about 50 cloves a year. It keeps for ages
    Enjoy

As deep as possible as the roots can go as down as 600mm ... probably happy with nothing less than 400-500mm of rich soil made up of 50% composted manures and potting mix (not that straight potting mix rubbish).

As for making black garlic - lotsa tips on the internet. I was given in confidence my 7 day recipe by a local chef so I'm reluctant to pass it on. Black garlic normally takes 40 days to ferment

I just saw this and my mum makes it occasionally. It's really easy to make it. Just leave it inside the rice cooker for 9 days and it's done.
