I'm looking for some recommendations / websites as to where I can find some gardeners / hired help to do some basic tasks.

The task is weeding the front garden, its not a big patch, measures about 4m x 1m.

I'm after someone who will sit there and pull out the tiny clover like weeds on a regular basis. Probably take them about 60 mins, or if maintained regularly about 15 mins a go.

I don't want to do it, but do when required. But between looking after the kids and work, there isn't really any time. However at the same time, I don't want to pay someone $60 per hour and have them charge 1 hour work + call out fee and end up costing me close to $80 for the tasks.

Any suggestions as to where I can find rates around the $10-20 hour mark?

$50 ph seems pretty steep for pulling out weeds... not after a qualified horticultalist to pull out weeds.

@neK - In our experience both cleaners and gardners are too precious............. $50 is on the cheaper end for 1 hour

We had same problems with our garden bed, Yours is mulch, ours was pebbles. Regardless of how often you pull them out, they keep coming back.

Weed killer got rid of them for us. Just careful around plants when spraying.

    Sorry, too many overheads.

Sure there are people and companies who do work cheaper, but everything adds up.

Every client wants a set date and time, as much as I try to collate jobs, it's rare to get two in the same suburb, so add in travel time (the client only wants to pay for actual time on site) insurances (my public liability is $20mill with a $1,000 excess) work cover, wages, superannuation, holiday pay, work clothes, ppe, training, fuel, wear and tear, replacement tools.........

It all adds up !

(People think nothing of paying $120 call out fee and $90 min an hour when their A/C stops ! )
