Hi PCers, I am currently in the process of buying a property where the previous owner had the double garage converted into 2 rooms, the rooms are probably 10cm shy of the 2.4m requirement. The property is in a family oriented suburb, I was originally planning on converting it back to garages to make it easier to rent out. Or, would leaving the 2 utility rooms and adding a double carport on the driveway be a better option? I am estimating the conversion of the 2UR to garage would be $2-3k and carport be $3-5k? What are your thoughts?

    ~Thanks~

Sounds expensive, guess your paying for labor, shouldn't take much effort with a hammer to convert back to garage (or carport).
Comes down to rental value with or without the two extra rooms.
Main Q would be do you really need to spend any $'s on it?

I like the idea of having the rooms and the carport. Am looking at doing something similar myself - from scratch. Car, lawn mower, tools and space for doing messy stuff.

I would keep the rooms and add a nice carport if there is room to do so and you can make it a "plus" for the facade.
