So this is our sad looking front porch...

Already planning to replace the door and frame with a full width door frame and single wide door in the middle of the frame. Frame will also have a column of glass on each side of the door also.

The brick wall will eventually be rendered or similar as a feature wall.

Main query is the existing slate tile flooring. It's bad at the moment and needs replacing. Has anyone done something like this before? Is it a simple case of removing the slate tiles, preserving the slab underneath then using some sort of concrete/self levelling compound and installing new tiles on top?

Think the wife wants some sort of 300x600mm blue stone tile look.

    Thanks heaps,
    D

As an aside to this, can anyone recommend any builders/carpenters etc who do door replacements?
