Some good collective wisdom on this site.

Probably the 2 best locations to buy next 5 years are Brisbane and Gold Coast.

Brisbane I am forecasting 8%pa over next five years.

    Gold Coast 12-15%pa.

I say this all the time. I just smile and say thanks to people with a POPR, a mortgage and nothing else. I already play a totally different game with different rules.

If I took investment advice from the guys at work, Id be in jail.

Their highest level understanding of investing is robbing a corner store at knifepoint to get more money than their weekly pay.

I wondered when you were going to show up!
    It's a valid strategy ;)

Your friend could be right or wrong.

But asking a friend what you should do with a pile of your own money inherently has risk associated with it.

Why don't you ask them what they actually did with a pile (assuming they measured it as such...) of their own money, and how it turned out?

Then you can assess the fortitude of, or lack of, their recommendation.

I think its good to listen to others to inform your decision making but has this person given any good reasons for you to consider?
Brisbane is due for a catchup as the 3rd biggest city. Sydney and Melbourne have already boomed

You can pick your nose, but you can't eat your friends.
    Or something like that.

Most of the population are absolutely clueless about building wealth with property. Even a very large chunk of 'property investors' to a large extent have very limited knowledge about building wealth with property imo. Very high chance your friend falls into either category.

True, a lot of people who have made money have been fortunate or had "dumb luck".

I agree @Azazel. The problem is when people want to build a large portfolio and systematically grow their wealth, luck isn't enough.
