Your friend could possibly be using Methamphetamine, buy in Brisbane 10km radius of CBD. Don't buy apartments.

Don't matter what anybody says, it's up to you to make up your own mind and be responsible for your own actions.

Don't listen to other people. And eventually you will stop bringing it up (real estate) and save it for this forum.
People all have the own opinions, and the more research you do, the more you disagree with them.

All my friends told me to buy in Darwin 4 years ago.......

I politely declined to act on their advice and have since seen a 30% drop in prices. Which is greater than what my research was telling me.

Sometimes you just gotta do your own research and make the call on your own. Spending hundreds of thousands of $$$$ is one of those times... ;)

I could show you some statistics proving otherwise. Instead, why not do some research on a basic website such as realestate.com.au and check out some suburbs spoken about here. @Steven Ryan has a thread discussing just one possible suburb. There are plenty of other threads talking about QLD. You should be able to find some areas that have done very well the last 12-18 months. I personally wouldn't discuss it any further with that friend of yours. If that's their opinion then chances are it will be a waste of time convincing them otherwise. Do some research and you'll find that there is more than one market in Australia to make money from with property.

Always ask for advice from someone who has achieved what you want to achieve.

I'm open to anyone's comment. Doesn't mean I'll take them on board. I'd like to see this chaps reasoning and sources to back his call.
