I've just moved the forum to a new server located in Singapore because the Tokyo datacenter we were in is full and I couldn't create a new larger VPS.

So please report anything which doesn't seem to be working the way you expect - just in case I missed something.

I would be interested in feedback about how you perceive the performance of the site compared to what we had previously.

Did you fly over or post it? It was very quick

The pages load noticeably faster to the last read post

People from WA will probably notice the difference the most - there is an internet link between Perth and Singapore which your traffic probably transits now, compared to going PER-ADL-MEL-SYD-Tokyo like it did before (some ISPs even send traffic from Australia to Japan via the USA!)

I've noticed a quicker page load also in Sydney. Definitely noticeable.

It's going to be difficult to tell how much of the improvement (if any) is due to server location and how much is due to the new server being more powerful and having less load on it.

Either way - it's feeling a bit faster to me too, even though it is a few more network hops and slightly more network latency from here to Singapore than from here to Tokyo.

The old database server was badly overloaded (Somersoft still generates a heap of traffic!), so I've split that onto a separate database server now (same web server as PropertyChat, different database server), so I expect that will be having an impact on the perception of page load times too.

By the way - I've discovered an issue with links in emails sent from the forum not working (I think due to strict HTTPS aka HSTS), investigating now.

Forums are MUCH snappier than they used to be simon. They were getting very laggy before. Good work!

This morning and this afternoon had a few issues logging in. (This is despite selecting to be remembered)
After logging it I would get a "no response from server" type page. This was on my iPhone.
All seems to by hunky dory now though so I'll monitor it and let you know.

You will need to go to the Apple store and get one of the 'genius' to check it. They might want you to upgrade to the next best thing for a nominal charge. It will fix all the problems.

I tried that. They said it was because I only own an Apple phone, and that if I wanted it all to work I needed to buy an iPad and replace my laptop with a MacBook to properly use their Eco-system. Obviously this is what I did. Seems to be working fine now ;)

The domain name has changed from propertychat.com.au to www.propertychat.com.au which may cause some issues with cookies.

You could try deleting all cookies for propertychat.com.au to see if that helps.

Also the SSL certificate has changed but that shouldn't cause problems with anything other than really old browsers on Windows.
