We have a unit in NSW where the tenants have complained about Flying Foxes excreting onto the windows/flyscreens. The tenant wants us to pay to have the mess cleaned up as he is unable to clean up himself (as is on the second story). The stench is not bearable apparently.

Question is, would you pay for this as an owner and is there any way to (legally) move the bats on? Is this the councils problem or tough luck?

    Regards

Contact your Strata Committee and get them to deal with it promptly.

    Whats attracting them?

We used to have mangoes which attracted the vermin, apparently can be cooked and taste like chicken (doesn't everything), but like rats can carry a lot of nasty viruses

Yes, if you have fruit trees they will come. One trick I've found is use some small solar rechargeable lights in the fruits trees. The big flood lights are the best but they waste a lot of power.

Thanks for the suggestions. The block of units is right next to a nature reserve and that is where they are based. There is no fruit in the area as far as I know.
