Flooring on stairs

    With the type of stairs below, is it easy to change the flooring?

    For example, if they were like the above but carpeted (like the rest of the property) and you changed the other flooring to floorboards, is it easy to do the same to the stairs so it matches or would they likely need to be kept as is?

    They are open risers

    Who knows what timber they used if it is carpeted. No, you'd need to replace with solid timber as it is most likely cheaper material if carpeted and you will need to clad the front/rear of each tread.
