It occasionally floods in the Outback too. Camerons Corner will be inaccessible by road.

The only reason that you can't get to CC is that the road has been cut by flood waters. I don't imagination that the 5 locals complain about it too much.

There are suburbs in Logan City Council that are not flood prone.

As a general rule search suburbs with ' heights ' in their name.

Every location / city / town has pockets that are flood prone but it shouldn't stop you from investing in that location. A good investment strategy should always focus on the fundamentals first and flood is only part of the due diligence you do at suburb / street / property level. I can't think of a city in Australia off the top of my head that has 100% of its area flood prone.

Check the 1% AEP (which means it covers once in a hundred years floods) flood map and make sure the property is not affected. Check your insurance and make sure your premium is not too high.

It's also worth nothing that flood mitigation strategies have been implemented in estates that were developed recently (in the past 20 years) or even in some existing areas that used to be flood prone (e.g. Invermay in Launceston).

I think it is smarter to look at flood and fire in context of climate change not historical records.

So seeking flood free and outside bushfire zones makes total sense.

we went out to the corner from tibooburra about 6 weeks ago and came back with a loud muffler

the reason we came back was because all the other roads were closed when we got there

im not against climate change but in reality there are just as many towns that have had their most severe weather events happen 50 years ago as opposed to severe weather events now

so i think the historical data is still very relevant

I'm assuming "affected" is loosely used? If that's the case, @boganfromlogan is right heights and sometimes HILLS don't get too affected. Ohhh and stay away from the river :)

That's not flooding, that's overland flow! Given insurance companies will use whatever strategies they can dream up to avoid paying claims, flooding is a term whose definition changes immediately following each rain event. Climate change in action, folks.

I live on top of a hill in a Hills suburb and my home is affected by flooding when the main road that my estate comes off gets cut off for a few hours after a cyclonic event. In 2011 I was cut off from the outside world for a day or two by water over the road one klm away. As a child in the 1960s and 70s, I sometimes missed school because water was over the main road, again a kilometre or two away.
