They might have no choice - unless you're considered essential and/or on a secure computer system

No, we are not critical at all. Everything we do is on the Cloud.
The only reason is because they don't want to look bad that people in head office can work, and those whose role is to travel, can't

It's time workplaces forgot about what looks bad and allows those who can work from home to do so.

A family member with immunity issues has been working from home whilst remainder of office are not (yet) working from home. But I suspect this will change this week.

I just read the new criteria for emergency access to $10ooo from Super. Looks like we wont qualify as we both are classed as essential service workers so we shouldn't lose our jobs.

To be true to the first world problem, even when I am working from home, my annoying coworker is still annoying

I'm still coming to grips with the new online learning.

With both kids at home I'm finding it more difficult to find a parking space in front of 'home school' for pick up and drop offs.

    My Corona virus FWP.
I salary sacrificed for 4 week’s extra holiday leave.

This is where we have total double triple standards by GOV.

Some industries forced to close and left to dust, while others are getting every support necessary to keep afloat and ensure good coin comes in.

Are food exporters more deserving of business survival and not shutting than others?

It's a matter of risk management.

Right now we are aiming to contain community transmission - which is why we have so many restrictions in place right now.

We also have a large number of foreign customers who rely on us for food supply (in exactly the same way that we rely on China for supply of other things). Given the normal supply chains are dysfunctional at the moment, anything we can do to help get exports moving again (without increasing our risk of spreading the virus further) will be good for all of us.

Lobsters aren't exactly a critical item - but they have a short shelf life so I don't see an issue with trying out some new supply lines using them as a test case. If it works well, then we can expand the operation to other areas.

More importantly: "[the flights] will be able to return with medical supplies and equipment ordered by Australian authorities" ... so it's a win-win.

Maybe if people temporarily stopped fishing for lobsters and abalone for commercial purposes, then there will be more available for the future? I dunno if they are farmed or wild.

... or they could just sell them to customers who are still demanding them and thus make money that they pay taxes on? I don't see the problem here?
