    Tricky situation for both bank (of mum and dad) and borrower. I can understand the sentiment though, my friends who are shopping for their first home are frothing at the mouth now that prices are ~10% down from their peak. "It's cheap now!!" and all contradicting statements fall on deaf ears...

    It's difficult to know if it's a good time to buy or not.

    Newcastle had some very strong rises last year, especially in the suburbs where they are looking. There was some very strong competition for the houses they were interested in. In fact, the house they were most interested in was bought for way over budget- but then finance fell through, and with a little more help, they just scraped in with an unconditional offer.

    They had been happy to keep renting, but the landlord decided he wanted to move back into the unit they were renting.

    Wonder if the landlord decided this is the top of the market and the time was ripe to sell his PPOR (and move back into his IP)

    Back on topic, I've found out that I may just be in a waiting list for the new Porsche 718 GT4 - and might not get a build slot at all. The painful part is that I'll have to wait a year or two to find out, and might have to settle for the current generation GT4 instead :(

    Great news, I think, about the new home. Glad she was not hurt too

    As with all investors - we're having a moment of asset rich/cash poor - so might have to hit up "bank of daughter" who, at 15, had declared she's fine with that but is demanding interest

    :oops: :rolleyes: :( :eek:

    What an enterprising child.

    In the same manner, land her with a bill for the cost of:

    birth;
    food;
    clothing;
    washing;
    ironing;
    heating;
    electricity;
    water;
    medical;
    dental;
    education;
    transport (all those birthday parties!)
    household duties (such as cleaning up the mess left behind.)

    Such are the delights of one's progeny.

    Forecast of showers but currently sunny ... do I hang the washing out or put it straight in the dryer?

    CHESS statements and allocation of shares under SPP or other similar corporate action being sent by post.

    Heck, the darn share registry is required to have this information so why not, as with dividend advices, send an email it's available so it would then be a simple matter of login on to the share registry and downloading it.

    While I am aware of the argument some people don't have a 'puter or know how to use one, we've done away with bank passbooks and ultraviolet light (youse younger peoples can look that reference up), so just do it. No I am not going to accept the proposition we should wait for all the old people to die before it's introduced - I'm one of the older people!

    We had a bank of solar panels installed at the start of the year and it has only just dawned on me that I can throw stuff into the drier all day and it will cost me zilch.

    I know - my last bill came in at $64 ... but one uses the dryer on a rainy/cloudy day when not generating ...

    Cars which talk to you even if you don't want them to. Took boxes of books to a charity placing one heavy box on the passenger seat. There has to be a pressure sensor because all the way there the seat belt light flashed and warning chime kept chirping away. Fifteen minutes of pure agony. Infuriating.

    Had my car read out my texts yesterday during a storm - "Cr@p, lightning has just broken near the IP.....Luv & kisses" (mum was in the car at the time). :oops:

    Most unfortunate. However, take heart. When she was giving birth to you it's likely she used language much worse than that.

    As for me, when I told my friend, she asked why didn't I simply click the seat belt on? Shamefully, I had to admit I didn't think of that. Goulburn denizens could hear the subsequent laughter.

    Some $#&%head let their dog [IMG] on my lawn at the IP.

    Minutes later we saw someone walking their shetland pony down the main street in the Innerwest and thought "I'm glad it wasn't this little fellow".

    Dang Lolly-pop person at the local school stops whole lines of traffic whenever there is the scent of a primary school kid thinking of coming anywhere near the pedestrian crossing. :mad:

    Installed a new router/modem as the old one was, well, old.

    For me it was certainly not intuitive. So the salesperson lied, the young little dastard. Took me at least three hours of patient swearing to get all the stuff working as it was before.

    Grrr, with the new router I lost all connectivity with Sonos. Took me until now how to actually get the darn thing recognised by the system. So much for plug and play. It's more of plug and then play around - a lot.

    First world problems.

    My door bell if you press very hard it stays in and won't stop ringing until you go out and adjust it

    All normal people seem to press it normally.

    Couriers always smash the button in and I have to manually adjust it..

    Grrrr

    Tried WD40? Otherwise put some alcohol around the doorbell and a Q-Tip?
