We have a budget of 450k-500k and looking to buy at least a 3BR-2 Bathroom-2 Garage house in a Melbourne suburb. Looking to buy now.

We have two kids. Sending kids to a good school is the most important thing. They are not schooling yet.

Commute time from the city, which is where I work is the 2nd important. My wife doesn't work.

I am a software engineer, and I reckon I would have more opportunities in the city, eastern and south eastern suburbs.

Which options do I have? Thanks.

I'd say cranbourne. Maybe carrum downs or frankston nth. Or else maybe Clyde. But if you Dont want the traffic I'd say more east

We were looking at Cranbourne and Clyde as well. Clyde doesn't have a train station, which means taking public transport is going to be a problem. Cranbourne would be alright.

As for north east, we were looking at Doreen. Even though Epping is approachable, there aren't any good schools in Epping. The issue with Doreen is that we won't have a train station for a year or two.

Far east would be really fast east, wouldn't it?

Straight move in. Difficult with kids.

Check the Hillside area too @nushydude, some decent schools there. Might just be in your price range too, unless you want to stick to the areas you mentioned.

I'm not convinced that the west is where we want to move to.

I was honestly all set on Clyde or Cranbourne, until I heard about Doreen.
