    Hi All,

Need a advice. I live in Macquarie Park and like the suburb and way 500/week in rent.(unit)

Now with market down, I can easily get a unit whose mortage will be almost same as my rent. So why pay rent.

My preference is school, proximity to city, good gentry and gree. Eventually some equity as well over the years.

Any suggestions what areas and what price point i should target.

What I am looking currently is

    1. apartment/town house in callingford.
    2. Townhouse in marsfield
    3. Old unit in epping/meadowbank

My friends keep suggesting to go far west and buy old house which will get good piece of land. But being a young family, i am bit hesitant to go that far.

    Cheers

At 500pw the mortgage would be about 600k. But think about council rates, insurance, body corp and repairs.

Those areas are fine. My hesitation for Carlingford is the woeful train transport.
So i'd go for option 2 or 3 of your list. I think Meadowbank and Marsfield aren't quite as good for Epping for the schools, but I've hearsd West Ryde Public (which isnt too far from Meadowbank) offers Mandarin and Hindi classes and that might be good for your kids.
