    Hi all

I have to upgrade my IP alarms to meet the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (Domestic Smoke Alarms) Amendment Act 2016.

It's a two-storey 4 bed townhouse and I have been quoted $960 for 6 x AS3786:2014 Photoelectric alarms and installation. Is that reasonable, or should I be getting a second quote?

    Tx in advance,

    Jockosaurus

Why isn't the body corporate arranging this so there is one system throughout the complex?

It's a duplex to be precise, so the BC's only role is building insurance.

    Hi Jockosaurus,

I actually just sourced two quotes yesterday for one of the properties manged by our agency in Queensland (Ipswich).

The pricing on a per alarm basis (including all labour) to meet the interconnected alarm 2022 standard:

    Company 1: $179 per unit
    Company 2: $199 per unit

Your quote appears to be reasonable.

    Regards,

    Aaron

I don't get it, why wouldn't you be getting two quotes minimum anyway?

Our sparkie says you would be looking at around $150 per alarm supplied and fitted. That is not a quote of course.

We just had him fit out two houses with interconnected alarms but not wired together (I think - maybe talk to each other wifi?)

Give him a call if you'd like to discuss with him. He's a good sparkie.

^ did a quick google. Interconnected is via RF.
Smoke Alarm Solutions $169 (PSA) or $229 (Brooks) per alarm. No idea on the real difference.
Looking at ebay Brooks looks to be either $70 or $110/ unit.
Also saw that Brooks require additional unit controller for the RF interconnectivity...

we have both units + houses including multi-storey... did you guys end up with battery or hardwired?
i am assuming a 10yr battery is much easier to install without running all these wires through the roof (if where possible) ?
