We’re renting while we search for our next PPOR and I have an issue. Not sure if anything can be done. Every time we cook the fire alarm goes off. Whether we use the stove or the oven, it goes off. It’s loud AF of course. Driving me nutty. I’m guessing it’s too sensitive? We never had this issue in any of the places we’ve lived before. Is it something to mention to the agent or should I just suck it up?
As above, basic rule of thumb is 1 alarm at least 1m from the entrance to every bedroom (or inside the bedroom itself), as well as some positioned along the evacuation route through the property. The one in the kitchen is probably unlikely required for compliance, request your Lessor/Agent confirm and remedy the issue.
Thank you. Technically it’s not in the kitchen, I guess it would be classified as “hall” but there’s no separation between it and the kitchen, it’s one big room. It’s probably 4m from the stove. I’ll definitely contact the agent.
