    Update:

Handover today, which basically means the pool guys clean the pool, make sure everything is working, set up the chemicals, set up pool equipment etc.
Electrician sorted out lights in the pool, looks awesome at night.

We still have the landscaping to be completed and this will take at least 1 more week, contractor will be starting today.
Garden lights coming from China, a few weeks off.

After this has been completed the frameless glass fencing will be erected another contractor.

Updated Total: $35,000 (fingers crossed, not a cent more)

Gee, looks a bit like Sydney.
I thought it was supposed to be warmer over there?

Generally a little warmer but pretty much same as we are practically same latitude as Sydney. We just don't have high enough mountains to get snow like some of NSW does.

I would be jumping in the brand new pool if the sun came out in that weather.
And straight inside for a shower.

    Tip -
we purchased the lighting for uaround the pool, $800 all from China, will be delivered in 2 weeks
To purchase same in Australia - cost $1600, double the price...

This has got me thinking as far as my future developments, perhaps I should look at what I can source from China

Just be careful electrical and plumbing products have to be certified to australian standards and watermarked, similar like windows glass etc. It maybe worthwhile to ship products across though you have to get the buidler onboard to provide warranty on them. For renovations it would be different as some renovations or refurbishment do not require permits.Quality control is something to be wary of which without experience you can get burned. I have many shipped containers in the past, shipped from china to melb, china to middle east (jordan), indonesia to china, melbourne to china, china to malaysia, china to brunei. and there are always some level of issues with the product.

I have some contacts and friends one is doing apartments in hawthorn with all lighting and kitchen and cabinetry directly from china and another is doing like a whole apartment building directly prefab from china in carnegie. Again these guys have architects and builders as partners.. There also needs to be some economies of scale otherwise it maynot be worth it. i have build pt cook place 50% sourcing products are from china. i personally think all the hassles running around is a bit too small for margins.

    Good feedback. Thanks

all good with the lighting. We have a friend who has been sourcing all sorts of stuff from China and has used this company and they tick all the boxes.

I really don't think I would source from China for my developments, it would be difficult to coordinate with builder and I may lose time on the build therefore probably cost me.

Here are some photos as promised. Still a little way off.
Landscaper still needs to seal the travertine stone, lawn to be plants, petunias to be planted on the strip
Lighting has yet to arrive from China, this will be around the length of the pool for max impact at night.

Once we get the lighting in I will post a photo.

The deep blue costs more, but the impact is amazing, I have seen it on a friend's pool.

Lighting down the 2 sides of the length only. There is one light in the pool which is all you need the other lights will reflect onto the hedges and they are jasmine, absolutely magnificent when they flower, a mass of white and perfume, quite spectacular

When I was researching I noticed lots of pools with too much stone, look very harsh/cold, as we have an older/period home I wanted it to blend with the house/surroundings.

Very happy to date. We are now considering a pool pump which is around $4000, this way we can use it all year.... I think
