No idea what you mean. Even if our flights were 20 hours I’d still fly cattle class and keep the $8.4k for spending money. I think I’m hardwired like that.

Qantas BC does not hold a candle to Qatar BC.

Having been blessed to fly first at other folks cost, and rare self funded forays into BC with the Boss, Im usually still in Economy, with a 50 % chance of a bounce into premium economy = free range cattle class.

Having lounge access via Qantas and Virgin makes for an ok in between.

Im one of those lucky few that can sleep 9 hrs between Syd and Dallas even in an Economy seat.

Tuscany, Capri, Venice, Amalfi Coast Road (awesime at night/early morn), Florence. Using trains to travel is a great way to see the Country. Pompeii is worth half a day as is Pisa. If you are in the North the drive up to the Cote d'Azur is also very picturesque.

Trains in Italy are awesome (and fast) and we were told to go first class. We've gone first and regular and they are the same. I was picturing first class as being somehow physically different, but you just have access to being able to order wine and food to the seat rather than go to the cafe on the train. That was our experience anyway. Same seats (first class does have a carriage of its own but everything else comfort wise was the same when we tried both on different legs through Italy).

We lined up at the ticket booth for nearly 1.5 hours once while the ladies behind the counter chatted and went as slowly as possible. Once we got our ticket, we realised there were ticket machines on the platform itself *fuming*. We found the station staff quite unhelpful and they could have told us this before we lined up. Perhaps they get sick of people, but then they should find another job.

We did have a lovely chat to people from different countries lining up, so there was an upside.

And don't forget to get your ticket validated before boarding or you will cop a fine from the conductors who do walk the trains and check every ticket (in our experience).

We are going to be hiring a car... wish me luck, but if we can drive in Altanta we can deal with mad crazy Italian drivers:eek:.

We just don't want to carting luggage and we will be on the hop.

Still working on the Itinerary, will start from the North and work our way down.

    MTR:)

OMG... really.... driving in Atlanta was the most terrifying thing I did, wonder which one is worse. Tiny roads, or massive spaghetti highways

At least the spaghetti junction looks easier to navigate than these -

We loved Venice. It is the one place in the world I really wanted to see.

I think it is because I didn't really understand how a city can function built on water with no roads.

And I love the crumbling beauty of it.

Interesting... but doesn't change a thing for me. The canals actually looked quite clean and there was no smell. But I never planned on taking a dip (thank goodness).
