Depends on how fine/coarse you want to chop. I chop in mini wizz - got it for more than 10 years and still working well. the Mini Wizz™ Food Processor • Breville

You mean that there's more to it than paying the bills for the supplier & washing up?

The cooking fairies do all the work in that food prep room.

I don't really see the benefit of fried air ;-)

I've been looking for one for years.

One that doesn't require a washing machine or slaving over the sink for 5 mins cleaning up afterwards. Where there are all these little mechanical hinges, or little cervices and areas for onion pieces to get stuck in. I hate any gadget that takes more time to clean than it saves me.

I need something that I could literally shake under a tap for 3 seconds and be done with it.

I bet there's some yet to be discovered innovation out there that will do this, but I've yet to find it.

Recently I found this solution for garlic, and it's one of the best kitchen tools I've ever purchased:

    Setup time: 0
Time to stomp / crush garlic: 2 seconds
    Wash up time: 3 seconds

Cause it's solid metal you tap it hard on the cutting board to dislodge any garlic. The speed I can prep garlic now is insane.

    PERFECTION.

Do you stomp on them with bare feet like grapes or footwear?

I had one (LG) but gave it away when I realised how much work it was. Had to walk around the house first to make sure there were no loose USB cables, extension leads, other bits and bobs. Then the frame of my bed was an arch, which meant if it looked at the top of the arch it would detect that it was short enough to fit...until it moved to the side.

The prep work involved was just a PITA, and all the trouble of dislodging it and pulling lose cables out of it. Given how incredibly light the new generation of Dysons are and how long they go on a single charge, I can't see myself going back till the tech takes a massive step up.

I've suddenly invested in cable conduits, cable covers and wall mounts :D Although our little unit has taken a liking to tearing the edges of our old rug apart....

After years of tears, onion slime and growing in the cupboard I have given up on fresh onions and now used frozen chopped onions and OMG I am never going back.

    Available from Coles and Woolies under their own brands, they are cheap, live in the freezer and I just pour out the amount I need. Coles {{mainVM.metadata.title}}

I don't think I've seen them until about 12-18mths ago when I was looking for frozen edamame and I was like "gamechanger!!". For the price and convenience it was an easy option for me.
