    Hi Folks,

In the event one of your tenant or neighbor called in the Police or Firefighter like: https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...acks-appear-in-brickwork-20200724-p55f0z.html

who will pay the bill since it is quite labour intensive checks after hours and call-out fee is sometimes billable by the Firefighter?

I assume the Strata / building insurance will fix the issue with the tiles cracking & wall cracking as it is deemed as "common" property.

Fire & rescue dont charge for callouts except some planning and meeting charges. A levy is imposed within insurance policies that funds Fire & Rescue Services. The insured pays a fee for the benefit of free call outs.

A private alarm call out may be charged by an alarm company. A false alarm call out charge can be incurred if an AUTOMATED alarm falsely brings the brigade out excessively. Only applies to specific property types with automated panels etc and for repeated errors. A structural issue woudnt be included in that. many stata towers have strict rules for occupants triggering alarms with things like toast etc. They on-charge the unit occupier.

@Paul@PFI, Yes, that does make sense.

So in the case on the news above, the Strata will have to bear the cost for the incident above.
And the building insurance will rectify the damage.

No it wouldnt be a repetitive false alarm. I beleive the call out was a concerned individual based upon tiles popping up in the foyer (now determined to be caused by a water issue) and the matter was triggered by a phone call at 3am. No cost. Fire & rescue dont want people to wait until its a towering inferno or a pile of rubble. The just want building managers and occupants to be more responsible about false detection alarms that waste their time eg toast, candles, using a BBQ on a balcony etc . They are likely to be happy to be called for a matter like this.
