I've heard and read a little about this during research for a family member with Crohns. I just found this link where someone has "cured" Crohns with this. It is great to hear from someone who's had this procedure.

I heard about this a few years ago and was very impressed - it sounded like a very effective and also long term treatment. Good to hear it worked for you Amaroo!

My airbnb host sent a message advocating a faecal transplant.

Either that, or there was a typo on the request to change the sheets.

My Mum had Crohns, that and UC are simply terrible, terrible conditions, I've read about faecal transplant, also read something along similar lines where newborns born by Cs are Smeared with Mums good flora. What a terrific story and good for you, imagine the pain and misery this could prevent worldwide.

@Amaroo , it's something I had heard of before, and it's a great reminder that treatments like this are out there. Interestingly, this just popped up in my facebook:

My wife has Crohns and if it worse, it would be an option. More money is being put into reaseach as we realise the importance of gut flora. From wikipedia...

The colon contains a densely-populated microbial ecosystem with up to 10^12 cells per gram of intestinal content. These bacteria represent between 300 and 1000 different species. However, 99% of the bacteria come from about 30 or 40 species. As a consequence of their abundance in the intestine, bacteria also make up to 60% of the dry mass of faeces.
