    Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are down for everyone worldwide due to what seems to be a DNS configuration error.

    From what I'm hearing - they are having difficulty fixing it because the people who have authority to access the system to fix it can no longer access their servers remotely - and the onsite team in the main datacentre can't fix it themselves. They are having to fly people in to physically access the servers so they can apply a fix.

    Half of the world's population is going to have a really bad day because they can't post on their favourite social media platforms. The other half of the population is going to see their mental health improve today for exactly the same reason :D

    Oh, and then there's the other half of the population who couldn't care less :p

    No wonder my whatsapp wasn't working ... and her I was cursing my internet to no end ..


    Don't have FB or instagram so no loss.

    Rather annoying for us that use it sensibly - messenger for chatting to my overseas family on a near daily basis and other friends ... and FB for seeing what's happened in the world of science and archaeology

    Seems to be coming and going - I was able to connect on my phone, but not on my desktop

    WhatsApp down was annoying, main mechanism of communication. I haven't sent an SMS or made a phone call here in years, just receive them sometimes from businesses
