From what I've heard - the commonwealth government threatened to pull their advertising - possibly that would've lead to the states pulling - which could've filtered down the big corporate - etc etc ... and that's BIG advertising bikkies for FB

I think Facebook will come off the winner here. From what I read FB only agreed after the government made amendments the the proposed legislation. Maybe they will start charging news sites for posting. Will be interesting to see.

I’m lost on all this means but if a small news provider can’t come to a deal with FB/google does that mean their news cannot be linked? If so it will see massive job losses in journalism and far less alternative media.

I'm not to worried about Zuck ... my life is rather mundane and boring

The episode I still deeply feel ill about was when i caught hubbys ex-wife had been logging into my page (potentially for years) to spy on us. She knew my email and must've worked hard to guess my password. Caught her out by getting an alert that I was logged into in the state of New York after she moved to the US ... didn't think much about it at the time as thought was a glitch ... then mere days after she moved to another state, years later, i was alerted of a login from that state

Immediately changed my password and no odd activity since. Still feel sick at the violation

I get news straight from the source. Its not hard!

FB is a very very dangerous thing. Just one thing sticks out.
    Identity theft.
Lizzie has experienced it! See above.
Now that could have gone far more pear shaped than it did with only a jilted ex spying.
    Think financial.

I don't get it, how can someone take advantage of you financially via your Facebook? No financial institution I know uses Facebook as a way to identify someone.

IT guys I know recommend changing all passwords at least once every 6 months, ideally more frequently (but hey we're all human and forget/just plain don't do it as we all have so many passwords to remember) 2 factor authentication on any email logins etc

Facebook made themselves the news. Tax them.

Google has a motto - "Do the right thing"
Facebook has a new one - We dont care

The choice is simple. Unsubscribe. Delete profile. Uninstall app.

We read newspapers and watch news on tv. No easy access to alternative media.

I really doubt these changes will see news limited and co start employing new journalists so it is essential that the new code does not disadvantage smaller media providers that have thrived since google came into existence.

You'd be amazed at what info you can get with a little cyberstalking. Sometimes it's not the person themselves that overshares, it's their friends and family.

One client proudly showed off his new drivers license on FB.

That's why one should never take any of the quizzes or play the "first initial" type games

True, there's always going to be people out there doing stuff like that, not sure if that can be helped.

Another friend's son published her full name, address and phone number. Her son inocently shared a 'missing cat' poster.
