    From here

I've read a few posts online on 'unlucky' investors and the benefits of investing over the long term

$100k invested in the market (US) on October 9th, 2007; this was the day the stock market peaked and then the worm turned, it kept falling until March 9th, 2009

Bond market (blue line) for comparison to Vanguard US total market (green line)

    upload_2020-1-13_14-16-11.png

$100k turned into roughly $45k over this period

Left alone and without any further contributions, this is what the portfolio would look like now

    upload_2020-1-13_14-25-9.png

    Value of around $268,000

Compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 8.4%

For interests sake only,I looked at the Bonds also, they would be worth a smidge over $165,000 at a CAGR of 4.2%

Any reason to add VAS other than lower fees & coverage of asx300 compared to STW's asx200 & higher fees?

Thanks @Redwing, but it seems that you, like @SatayKing, see no reason to sell STW at this time. Yes, VAS is most popular, just been looking at the higher dividend of STW.

It was inevitable so I thought may as well. The mods rarely sleep anyways.

Already invested on Monday along with the STW distribution. All your fault of course letting us know when and how much per unit is being paid.

Mine just arrived. Why would they arrive as four payments when I only own two ETFS?

I delete the emails without opening them. See no point to them and money hits the accounts, which it has. Only bother with Annual Tax statement.

I had one statement only for VAS, VGS & VAE.

Do you use just the one broker? Purchase under just the one entity etc? Otherwise this doesn’t make sense to me.

One statement per holding here also. Two deposits in the bank per holding.

Having some limited understanding of Index ETF. HOPE someone knows the nuisance of how ETF will work.

With Vanguard ETF (e.g. VAS), what happens if a top 10 holding goes bankrupt?

How does the fund get more capital to refill the new index value (ASX 200) and not affect the asset to value position.

Is the ETF fund closed off? So it will always trade there after below the "new" index (asx300) since there will be a new entrant from markets perspective that is bumped up.

I'm asking because I'm think should I do my own direct pick now since I already have weighting towards the banks and mining. No point buying VAS
